My fear on igbogbo road

Work to begin on Ishawo, Igbogbo roads soon, Sanwo-Olu declares

The nightmare being experienced by commuters on Agric-Ishawo and Igbogbo Roads in Ikorodu area of Lagos State will soon be a thing of the past, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu declared on Thursday.

The Governor said he felt the pains of residents plying the abandoned routes, but disclosed that contractors would be fully mobilised for reconstruction work on the two roads, which he described as “critical” to the state’s economic wellbeing.

Sanwo-Olu made the revelation while on an inspection tour of Rice Mill and Industrial Park project being developed by the state government at Imota.

He said: “We are aware of two major critical roads that are in Ikorodu Division; the Igbogbo Road and Agric-Ishawo Road. Once the heaviness of the rains subsides, which is likely to be in couple of weeks away, we expect that the contractor will fully re-mobilise to the sites.

“I appeal to residents to bear with us, but we will take responsibility of the rehabilitation of these important roads. Government is a continuum and we are going to fulfill our campaign promises to complete all abandoned projects. We are appealing to our teaming citizens in Ikorodu to be patient. We know how critical these roads are to their wellbeing.

“I had been on these roads before and I know the conditions they are presently. It is for the people to exercise patience because for road construction, we need to be very tactical to ensure there is no wastage in materials. Once the rain subsides a little bit, the contractor will be fully mobilised to sites and Lagosians will begin to see major improvement on the two artery roads in Ikorodu.”

The Governor was joined on the tour by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, among other top government officials.

Disaster in ijede

Boat mishap in Ijede

A boat with twenty passengers onboard got wrecked yesterday night with only three of the passengers being rescued. As at this morning a lady was brought out dead. The cause of the accident could be linked to the boat engine going dead while in the middle of big river linking egbin with Ajah jetty but a lot of the people waiting for their missing relation to be brought out from the river were complains that most of the boats do not have light for the night journey so were not fit for usage in the night.
Among the dead was a pregnant woman and her husband, so also were many residents of ijede township. One of the people feeling the pain of the mishap is the current chairman of ijede social cloud Tajudeen ojikutu who lost three of his cousins.
Boat mishaps has become a rampant thing in Ikorodu and environs for some time.

The risk in buying

USED PHONE

For many phone is a necessity in this modern world.
In th seventies through the nineties the availability of phone is so rare that in some towns of ten thousand people you could have as low as five phone which are all table phones, then acquiring a phone is a luxury to a lots of people, for this reason phones are found in the houses of very influential personalities and you can see many people using the same number on their business cards, when anyone has a call, the caller will be told to call back while the whole village send words around o the person the call is meant for to be around to receive his call.
In those gone days staffs of Nigerin telecommunication limited are kings as they charge huge amounts to help you get a line and this could take mounts to arrive.
Fast forward to our current world the phone has become so common that an individual could have as many as numbers all to himself.
The technology has also improved massively to a level that when a phone is lost or stolen its left to the owner to either look for it or let it go.
Lost phon can now b tracked and through so many trackers from the application store, for this its not advisable for anyone to buy a used phone that you don't know the original owner that bought the phone newly.
A friend of mine seyi is currently in the cell for no fault of his but because of someone that called him with a phone that was in a car that was stolen by armed robbers. Seyi operates rental business and has lots of young boys coming around to work for him whenever they are on holidays. The boy is in the university outside Lagos from where he called seyi that he needs fund to pay for his school fees which as a somebody with large heart seyi sent to the boy.
Few days after seyi was arrested by the police for receiving a call from a phone stolen together in a snatched car. This is the story is just developing and I keep you posted with new updates.

Sucide is here

TRULY

SUCIDE IS HERE

We need to do something

AND URGENTLY!

The Taxify driver I rode with yesterday was various shades of deep.

His stares.

His words.

His reasoning.

Even his humour.

He was not a small man, neither was he big, but he was lanky, full bearded, pot beliied with an average height.

His stomach sat upon him like an alien.

It was incongrous to the frailty of his stature.

It made you smile.

Because it made him look comical.

And.

Strangely humane.

And when we drove across Third mainland bridge as we raced to catch the play The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives at Terrakulture in Victoria Island.

He looked over the dark expanse of water that percolated menacingly fall below the bridge.

And said.

"I have to deliver to the owner of this car, N40,000 every week. He works for an oil company. Makes good money but his heart is very cold. I have told him that the days when drivers of Taxify and Uber deliver that kind of money are long gone, but he would not listen. Every day more than a hundred new vehicles enter this business. Yet the riders do not increase. What that means is that it is more difficult to get rides. This is past 7 and I have only done 4 rides today. I have made just over N6,000. How will I make N40,000 a week, if Taxify takes its 15% share, I fuel this car, I service it? What will be my share after it all? I have four children, there are school fees to be paid, food to use to feed them, medical bills as they are young and fall ill often, my wife has gone back to school, there is house rent waiting. It is like I am in slavery. I want to just give him back his car, but if I do, what else can I do? Lagos state civil service I was working for, grade 6 officer and my take home pay was just over N27,000 a month. I tried to go to construction site to work, but after one week, I was sick for three months. I want to farm. No land. I want to trade. No capital. Even to steal, no courage. This car is my saviour and my nemesis."

All this while he was staring at the darkness of the water.

Totally oblivious to me.

As though he was speaking with something only he could see.

Then he sighed.

And pronounced.

"That is why I hate taking trips across the bridge. Every day that water calls out to me. It tells me that it can end all my pain. I just want to park the car, get out and just jump into it. But then I think of my children. It is not their fault that they were born into such suffering. If I die now, what will happen to them? Even if any man marries my wife, will he raise my children like I would have raised them? I tell you, death is a seductress. It tells you that it can take away your pain in an instant. It tells you that when you land in that water you will not drown, once you slam into that water, it is like slamming into concrete. You will die instantly. Just like that everything will end. But will it truly end? Is that the solution? Will I be able to rest easy in death if I know that the children I have brought into this world are alive and suffering? No. That is the dilemma of this life. The end of your suffering is the continuation of the suffering of someone else.
Yet the owner of this car, a bachelor, who pops champagne every weekend and carries all the fine girls in this city, says to me, if you can't give me 40k every week, give me back my car and I will get someone to drive it. I have told him that death is knocking at my door, and he says, it is your business if you open the door for him, just give me my 40k."

Then he fell silent.

And finally he whispered.

"If I survive this year, it will be a miracle."

When he dropped me off, I exchanged numbers with him and collected his bank account number.

And when I was done watching the play.

I sent him a little something.

He responded.

"Thank you very much my brother. But please is there a way, you can find me something else to do?
This money will finish, but my suffering will continue...
I am living on borrowed time."

Here I am...
living without any fear of tomorrow.

Not having too much but having enough.
With hope and faith!

And there he is.

In the grip of hopelessness.

And the seductive easy escape of death.

I wept.

Lagos.
2019.

THERE IS UTMOST DESPAIR AND HOPELESSNESS... RAVAGING  THE LAND!

REDUCE PHCN WAHALA

HOW TO LOWER YOUR PHCN BILL

From our social media watch,  a Nigerian tell everyone the secret solution to power discos truly.

IF WE DON'T DO IT OURSELVES, NO ONE WE DO IT FOR US.

IGNORANCE IS NEVER AN EXCUSE IN THE COURT OF LAW, PLS BE ENLIGHTENED.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE, PLS READ TO END.

A thread on why PREPAID METER being distributed TO ALL may never be achieved in Nigeria.
After the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Electricity distribution companies are next on the list of corruption. This has been in existence from time immemorial, just like barracks, many government have come and gone but the deep rooted corruption in the system remains the same.
In April 2016, I moved in to my current rented apartment. The apartment was still connected to an odistribution there was an outstanding payment of about N385,000.00 to be paid.

ARE U FACING THE SAME CHALLENGE?
PLS COME ALONG WITH ME.

This wasn't revealed to me before I made payment of the rent, as usual (that's how they all do)
This became a worry and an absolute headache.

I asked the landlord why it was so and she made me understand that the apartment was not in use for 5years.

I asked how come it wasn't reported to NEPA so they'd stop the billing, she gave me a copy of the letter she wrote to them
So I took the matter up, wrote several mails to Eko electricity company and the matter was on for 11months, note that in the space of this 11 months, I never got a monthly bill lesser than 24,000.00

You want to ask if I have a factory in my apartment? No I don't.
So it extended from wanting the company to zerorize the ridiculous outstanding balance in the billing account to fighting and contesting the outrageous billing system which do not in any way represent my true electricity consumption and wanting a Prepaid Meter

The battle began.
After several exchange of mails betweens myself and Eko Electric and no solution was forthcoming, I moved the matter to NERC, the regulatory body for all electricity distribution companies in Nigeria.

I filed a petition against Ekedp and the undertaking in charge of my area.
Lo and behold, after three days from the petition submission to NERC, I got a call from the marketing manager for my area pleading for me to make myself available to allow them come to my house and take inventory of the electrical appliances I use.

NERC is working yeah? Right.
A staff of the Ekedp came to take the inventory and at the end of the computations, we calculated and multiplied each appliance by the estimated units they consume per day and multiplied by 31days.

Recall I said I never got a bill less than 24k in a month?
Then we arrived at a figure that even the Eko electric staff who came to take the inventory opened his mouth and couldn't close it.

What I should be billed based on having 24hour light per day(which is not even possible) in 31 days was 4,800.00

I almost ran mad.
I took a copy of the report, scanned it and attached it to my next petition to NERC.

At this point, the marketing manager attached to my undertaking had started calling and begging me to stop the petitions.

That they could all get sacked if matters gets escalated further.
Then in September 2017, after all the troubles and how I never got tired if pursuing the issue, I got a mail from Eko electricity to come with some required documents in order to fill a form for a PREPAID METER.

I went there and did as they requested

At Last.
On 27 November 2017, I was on leave.
I was at my gate then this Alfa looking guy was parading and trying to see house number on the fence. My instinct told me to ask if he was asking for Ayo, then he said yes

He was the prepaid meter installer, he was with my new prepaid meter
I also recall that before the whole issue started, I was discouraged severally that I can never be given prepaid meter due to the outstanding balance on the billing account, I paid no mind to all the people that said that and went ahead with my case.
I got the Prepaid meter for FREE. After a week, bill was brought and boom, outstanding balance has been cleared from 385,000.00 to zero balance.

How did I achieve this?
I mean I didn't pay a dime to anyone and I never for once bribed my way in all my dealings.
I achieved this simply because;

1. I knew my right.
2. I wouldn't settle for mediocrity
3. I never stopped pushing even after several months and it seemed unachievable
4. I was ready to take the matter up anywhere
5. I was informed.
Now imagine how many people are out there who don't even know how to go about such tedious and draining process.

I learnt that a lot of people even paid as much as 40k to get the prepaid meter. Something that's supposed to be free.
Since the prepaid meter was installed in November 27 2017, I have not exhausted the 303 units that came with it which is calculated to be 7,200.00

And I still have 140units left to use.

That's over four (4) months now
Do you now see why these people will never allow dream of every homes having a prepaid meter become a reality?

Because such development will block all holes where the electricity distribution corrupt members of staff perpetrate their fraudulent activities and corruption from.
They know that they will be forced to give light more in order to generate revenue and will not be able to charge people outrageously as they are currently doing and remitting the proceeds of their criminal act to their pockets.

Stand up and Fight for what is your right.
Prepaid meter is your right, fight for it to the letter.

If you believe that your monthly electricity bill do not represent your consumption, make a case.

If you're in Lagos, Ikeja Electricity company and Eko electricity company are there for you.

If they fail, involve NERC.
That will be all, for now.
Due to popular demand, these are the email addresses you can forward your complaints to -
Ikeja Electricity Distribution - customercare@ikejaelectric.com
Eko Electricity Distribution - customercare@ekedp.com
Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission - complaints@nerc.gov.ng

Do you know that, by law, you are entitled to at least 14 days between the date you receive your Electricity bill and the date when you are to pay that bill?

Do you know that, by law, your Electricity Distribution Company must give you a written notice of disconnection before it can disconnect you for non-payment of your bill?

If you answered yes to the last question, then do you know that, by law, your Electricity Distribution Company must wait for at least 90 days from the date of giving you notice of disconnection, before it can legally disconnect you?

Do you know that if you are unlawfully disconnected, you can compel your distribution company to reconnect you without paying reconnection fee, and that you can get this done without going to court?

Do you know that, if you are illegally disconnected, you are entitled to damages at a minimum of #1,000 per day to be paid by your Electricity Distribution Company for each day of disconnection till your power is restored?

Do you know that there is an administrative body that meets in your city, or a city close to you, that monitors the activities of Electricity Distribution Companies and will compel them to respect your rights if they breach same?

If you answered NO to any of these questions, then you, like so many others, are the victim of a conspiracy of silence by the Electricity distribution companies, who have been statutorily mandated to carry out regular public awareness campaigns on these and other consumer rights within their franchise area.

There is a solution at hand.

An online platform has been created to educate power consumers of their rights under the reformed power sector in Nigeria. Not only that, if you have suffered from any breach of your rights, you can get *free help* on that platform to enforce your rights.

Go to www.nepawahala.ng.

Register. Ask any question that bothers you. Ask for help. It's all free.

One candle loses nothing by lighting another. It only spreads light and pushes back this present darkness.

If you have suffered from a breach of your rights as a power consumer, chances are someone you know has been, or is, a victim too.

Press Release

Aremo (Barr.) Dotun Hassan

Yoruba group  preparing for operation FLUSH-OUT

FOLUMO

23rd May, 2019.

7 Days Final Quit Notice To All Fulani Herdsmen in South West tagged: "Operation Sweep Clean- (Folumo)".

The leadership of the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide (YCYW) alongside other leading Yoruba youth organizations in Yoruba Land: a coalition of all yoruba indigenous youth and student organizations in Nigeria and in Diaspora, with the sole aim of enthroning rule of law, security of lives and properties, good governance and succinct democratic ethos predicated on Awoism credos and peaceful coexistence of Nigeria.

Based on this premise, rising from her National Executive Council meeting in ile ife on 23rd May,2019, in view of the recurrent decimal of flagrant brutal killings by the gun wielding terrorist Fulani Herdsmen/Boko Haram, aggressive invasion and violent attacks and alleged kidnapping of innocent Yorubas and Nigerians domiciled in Yoruba Land, gross violation of fundamental rights to human dignity leading to serial and merciless killings of innocent youths, rising wave of insecurity across the nation in Lagos around Ojokoro, ibadan to ife road, ibadan to Ijebu Ode/Benin Ore road, Ekiti to Akure and other highways kidnappings and robberies, incessant records of brutal ritual killings to mention a few, precipitating our unanimous resolution via final 7 days quite notice to all fulani herdsmen/boko haram  to stay off all our territories, towns, villages and highways in all southwest states predicated  on the launched mass movement tagged: "Operation Sweep Clean(Folumo)" forthwith.

Failure to comply with this final warning shall leave us with no other option than to forcefully clean up and rootout all fulani herdsmen/boko haram terrorists in all hiding creeks and forests in the south west geo political zone of Nigeria after 7 days final quit notice to lapse on the night of Thursday 30th May, 2019 accordingly.

Henceforth, we are laconically positing that all residents persons domiciled in the southwest shall be part of this mass movement launch of 20 million man match against the herdsmen terrorists in all southwestern states, wherein a date will be announced upon violation of these warning notice, wherein all our members across all the local governments and communities  within southwestern states shall by jointly and simulteniosly mobilized to frontally comb and move into all forests, creeks and flash points, wherein all cattle breedings and animal husbandry marauding shall be stopped forthwith.

Furthermore, after 21 days of persistence of this heinous threats against our people, we shall not hesitate to move against all investments and businesses; ranging from real estate, transportation haulage, oil and gas owned by any hausa/fulani extractions within southwest, if this evil persist irreversibly without verifiable interventions from their leaders and heads, we shall summarily shut down all palaces of hausa/ fulani communities within southwest.

Nigeria, seems to be faced with multifaceted challenges daily, consequently we have gotten lots of colossal loss of lives and properties from the killer herdsmen terrorist groups, unfortunately they are yet to be classified as a prohibited  Terrorists organization by the federal government of Nigeria.

Paharps, it is highly regrettable to note the Federal Government ill motivated  act of comparing the Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria  to Afenifere and other socio-cultural groups; what a profused insultive, irresponsible and reckless statement from a government under democratic rule, to make matters worsened  President Muhamnadu Buhari led federal government assured and promised N100Billion to support the herdsmen, when they have not shown any sign of remorse or repentant demeanor.

We have it on record, that the FG has proven to protect this fulani hersdemen with an additional approval of radio station licencing to fulani radio station network across the nation.

Consequently, this is a direct nexus for provoked aggression,  anarchy and authoritarianism.

We are suspicious of some elements who are using the veil of government to launch massive genocidal war against innocent Nigerians, particularly Yoruba people, i.e recently our doctors and professionals are gruesomely killed and brutally maimed.

Based on live report, we learnt the boko haram and fulani herdsmen are feasting around us daily, in over 2,000 creeks forests spread across southwestrrn states, particularly in the most vulnurable states: Ogun, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun and Ondo States respectively.

For power corrupt and absolute powers corrupt absolutely.

We believe, this is the best time to review our unworkable system of government towards the realization of the restructuring agenda, with a prepared vision and hope for a new people's constitution that guarantees good governance,  devolves power and economic resources rights to the Regions/ States and Local government units, unfortunately this has not only contributed immensely to our precarious and nebulous status as the poverty capital  of the world, but tainted accolades as the worst place to live in on earth.

What else gives citizens the confidence to thrive, if this stumbling pyramid of daily struggles and resultant double jeopardy remains unabated.

Based on this premise, we believe charity begins at home, precipitating our clarion call for 'A Southwest Economic Revitalization and Security Summit' slated for Thursday June 27th, 2019 at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State by 11a.m.

We passionately  appeal to all our political leaders,   stakeholders, elders, youth organizations, all Yoruba socio-cultural self determination groups and Royal fathers to urgently shun all divisive tendencies and embrace one another, for it is high time we crave with the greatest respect and seek His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi 111, The Alaafin of Oyo and other Royal Fathers of great reputes.

Also, we equally call for a closer ranks between  Aare Dr Gani Adams, The Aare Onakankafo of Yoruba Land alongside the Agbekoya, Afenifere, ARG, all OPC, OLM, YCWY, YYC, Yoruba Koya, Yoruba Assembly, YSG, VOR, all youth and student leaders to mention a few, while we equally call on all our esteemed captains of industries, philanthropists, professionals, scholars, political gladiators and leaders of thoughts to collectively reason together on the way forward and proffer immediate panaceas to this stalemate.

For we can no longer guarantee our further safety and economic survival as a nation, due to the aforementioned tribulations and double jeopardy thickly fastly like an evolving time bomb, earnestly waiting for ignition.

We believe that this similar gestures be transmitted to other regions too, in order to simulteniosly and effectively ventilate our age long grudges dispassionately as commons and compatriots.

This will then culminate to the eventual convocation of 'A National Peace and Security Summit' to be hosted by President Mohammadu Buhari in Abuja by Thursday 25th July, 2019.

However, firstly we demand for a special Yoruba youth dialogue with President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR being a father and president of the nation, this shall serve as a means of intimating him on all the aforementioned, in order to cross fertilize ideas on the current state of the nation affairs and other issues of mutual interests, as the nation's present and future heirs, as well as YCYW being the umbrella body for the Yoruba youths.

We hope this clarion call would constructively summoned our dying consciousness of building and salvaging  our nation from imminent total collapse,  for canons of war or attrition cannot solve our dreaded ailments, but exploring dialogue as the alternative first aid of getting out of this evil hoods.

We believe that no human life is worth to be shed on the alter of mediocrity and quests for power.

For we must ensure to protect all inhabitants within our territories and by extension all Nigerians nationally.

Long live Yoruba Land.

Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Signed:

Aremo (Barr)Oladotun.Hassan,
Founder and President,
Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide(YCYW).

Why do snakes come out after storms
We have a complex relationship with raining season . On one hand, we enjoy the sound of the rain and the smell that blows in just before a storm arrives. We need rain brought in by storms to nourish our lawns, gardens, for production of flood and replenish our water reservoirs. On the other hand, storms can bring in damaging winds, flood waters, and even dangerous lightning strikes. One danger that appears during the aftermath of a storm or a storms download plus which brings flood is the proliferation of snakes.

A snake is an ectothermic reptile which means it is unable to regulate its body temperature using internal biological mechanisms. A snake’s internal body temperature is affected by the temperature of its environment. For this reason, snakes live in underground dens where the soil acts as insulation against both extreme heat and cold. These dens are usually burrowed tunnels made by mice, and other small creatures.

When a storm moves into an area that brings heavy rain, these underground dens and burrowed tunnels will begin to fill with water, essentially flooding the snake’s home. This will drive the snake to leave their den and seek dry, safe shelter. This shelter will usually take the form of a home, shed, barn, or other man-made dwellings. A snake will also take shelter under large piles of debris left behind by a damaging storm.

There are ways to protect your home from being invaded by a snake during storms. The first thing you should do is check your foundation for holes or cracks. If you find any openings, seal them immediately to prevent them from being used as an entry point. Then, when the storm is over, immediately begin clearing away any debris from your yard that could attract a snake or other rodents.

If you happen to find a snake in your home after a storm or hurricane, there are many ways to handle the situation. The most important step is to not panic. Once you find the snake, try to confine it to that area of your home. If it’s a nonpoisonous snake, you can try to remove it yourself by pinning its head down with a long stick or pole, grabbing it below its head, and taking it outside. If you’d rather have someone else remove the snake from your home or if the snake is in your yard, call someone to remove the wild animal.

Remember that snakes are a vital part of our ecosystem. They help to control the rodent population. Always call a professional to remove a poisonous snake.

For some time Banana estate has been in the news for the wrong reason. The biggest reason is the killing of okada operator in the Community.
Wishing the space of two years not less than two okada operators has been killed by people suspected to be armed robbers.  The killing takes  places in isolated areas within the CDA since most of the Community are sell unoccupied by the owners of the plots.
Recently the activities of kidnappers has in reason too in the time of 10:00am-1:00pm, during this time most families are either gone to their various  work places and the children are also at school.
We use people to be more vigilant of news fake in the Community and not to just overlook but to report to the security around their areas.
